The Phantom by El Osas Iyalekhue - an accidental dramatization of class consciousness.

Every dramatic piece I write brings me a fresh piece of experience. And because I have long matured above the age of confining myself by the shenanigans  of ideological enjoyment, I write as driven by my muse. I never bother about what drama must do or not do. So when I decided to write The Phantom, it was by dramatic fate that it turned out a radical leftist play. I am however bloody crazy about what this has produced. Expressing Marxist ideo-aesthetics, The Phantom enforces class consciousness, while criticizing Nigerian attitudes to live theatre and artistes. The play further criticizes the attitude of theatre artistes and other artistes to the appreciation of artistic creators and creation.
Like most of my plays, it is an one act play in one scene.

New year resolutions are common drugs to get high on while looking into the year. Fuck that though, I never make them. I make other things. This morning I made a worksolution to make a signature play, something that would reek of my personality, all of it, spirit, soul and body. While I will be working towards my future length movie, I will endulge some distractions by staging a Play. As usual, I have picked a kinky title, make it just five fucking characters, no scene changes, no lights off, an hour running, but totally engaging. El Osas Iyalekhue : THE VAGINA WAGE : A DEMONSTRATION OF FEMINO-SUBJECTIVE THINKING.

An age old premise says women are the weaker sex. I do believe in this premise and my pro-help-the-weak-sensibilities are at the alert. This is why it is necessary for me to reiterate that women offer a lot to society, and yet get nothing back. It is on this premise that I am divorcing my He-man ego to willfully posit that every woman in the world should get a free monthly allowance just for being a woman. Yes, every Government in the world should pay its women what I now call THE VAGINA WAGE. Something I feel should not be denied any being that has a vagina. To do justice to this argumentation, I will start from the phenomena of birthing. By a tragic machination of creation, the specimen called the woman is doomed to give birth to a good measure of blood once in a month. This birthing of blood is called the menstrual cycle.
